Stalagmite
A stalagmite is a mineral formation that grows upward from the floor of a cave, created by the accumulation of minerals deposited by dripping water. When water containing dissolved calcium carbonate or other minerals drips onto the cave floor, some of the minerals are left behind as the water evaporates, gradually building up the stalagmite. Over time, these formations can become quite large and resemble cones or pillars. Stalagmites often form in conjunction with stalactites, which hang from the cave ceiling, and together they create striking cave scenery.
