Stages of Neonatal Development
Neonatal development involves rapid growth and changes in a newborn during the first few weeks after birth. Initially, the baby's body adjusts to life outside the womb, managing basic functions like breathing, feeding, and temperature regulation. In the early stages, sensory abilities such as hearing and sight improve, and reflexes like sucking and grasping develop. Over time, the baby gains strength, begins to make more intentional movements, and starts to develop basic social behaviors, such as eye contact and response to sound. This period is crucial for laying the foundation of physical, sensory, and neurological growth necessary for future development.
