St. Joseph's Society (Josephites)
The Josephites, officially known as the Society of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart, is a Catholic religious community founded in 1893. Their primary mission is to serve and support African American Catholic communities, especially in areas where they face historical social and economic challenges. Members, called Josephites, are priests and brothers dedicated to pastoral work, education, and social justice. They focus on fostering faith, building community, and advocating for racial equality within the Church and society, emphasizing their commitment to racial reconciliation and service to marginalized populations.
