
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton was the first native-born American to be canonized as a saint. She lived from 1774 to 1821 and is recognized for founding the Catholic school system in the United States. After her husband's death, she dedicated her life to education and faith, establishing the Sisters of Charity, who cared for the poor and taught children. Her work helped spread Catholic education and service throughout America, making her a pioneering figure in American religious and social history. She was canonized in 1975 and is considered a patroness of Catholic schools in the United States.
