SSD lifespan
SSD lifespan refers to how long the drive remains reliable before it wears out. SSDs store data using memory cells that gradually degrade with use, especially during writing data. Modern SSDs have built-in technology to distribute wear evenly, extending their lifespan. Typically, they can handle multiple years of regular use—often 5 to 10 years—depending on the amount of data written. Once the memory cells reach their limit, the SSD may start to fail or become unreliable. Regular backups are recommended to protect your data, regardless of the drive's age.
