SSB (Single Side Band)
Single Side Band (SSB) is a type of radio transmission that efficiently sends voice signals by only transmitting one of the two sidebands generated when transmitting a radio frequency. Traditional AM broadcasts send both sidebands, which contain similar information, along with a carrier, making the signal large and power-consuming. SSB cuts out the redundant sideband and carrier, reducing bandwidth and power use, resulting in clearer, more efficient communication over long distances. It is commonly used in amateur radio, aviation, and maritime communications for reliable, high-quality voice transmission with minimal signal interference.
