SS Titanic (RMS Titanic)
The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner, launched in 1912, built to be the largest and most luxurious ship of its time. It was designed for transatlantic travel between Europe and North America. On its maiden voyage, the Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic, which caused it to flood and sink. Despite advanced safety features, over 1,500 of the estimated 2,200 passengers and crew lost their lives. The disaster highlighted deficiencies in maritime safety standards and remains one of the most famous shipwrecks in history.
