Sri Lanka Civil War
The Sri Lanka Civil War (1983–2009) was a conflict between the government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant group seeking an independent Tamil homeland. Rooted in ethnic tensions, discrimination, and political struggles, the war involved intense fighting, bombings, and civilian suffering. It ended in 2009 with the government's victory, but the conflict left deep societal scars, disrupted lives, and prompted ongoing efforts toward reconciliation and healing.
