Src

Src is a family of proteins called tyrosine kinases that play a key role in controlling how cells behave. They act like molecular switches that can turn on or off during processes like cell growth, division, and movement. Src proteins do this by adding a phosphate group to other proteins (a process called phosphorylation), which can change the target proteins' activity. This regulation helps cells respond to their environment. Proper Src function is vital—too much activity can lead to unchecked cell growth, contributing to cancer, while too little can impair normal cellular functions.
