SRA (Strategic Rail Authority)
The Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) was a UK government organization responsible for overseeing and planning the country's rail network from 2001 to 2006. Its role included setting long-term strategies, coordinating investments, and ensuring that rail services met national needs. The SRA acted as a central body to improve efficiency, promote competition, and integrate rail services with other transportation modes. In 2006, its functions were transferred to other organizations, such as Network Rail and the Department for Transport, to better manage infrastructure and operations.
