Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)

Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) is a type of skin cancer that originates from squamous cells, which are flat cells found in the outer layer of the skin. It typically develops in areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, ears, and hands, but can occur elsewhere. SCC usually appears as a firm, raised growth, a sore that doesn’t heal, or a crusted lesion. If caught early, it is often curable through removal. However, if left untreated, it can grow deeper and spread to other parts of the body. Regular skin checks and sun protection are important for prevention.
