Sputum Induction

Sputum induction is a medical procedure used to gather mucus from the lungs for testing. A patient inhales a saline mist, which helps loosen thick mucus in the airways. After inhaling the mist for a few minutes, the patient coughs up the sputum, which is then collected and analyzed. This test helps doctors diagnose respiratory conditions like asthma, bronchitis, or infections, by examining the cells, bacteria, or other substances present in the mucus. It is a safe, minimally invasive way to get important information about lung health.
