Sputum collection

Sputum collection is a simple medical test where you cough up mucus from your lungs into a container. This mucus, called sputum, helps doctors check for infections, like pneumonia or tuberculosis, or other lung problems. To collect a good sample, you might be asked to rinse your mouth first and then take deep breaths and cough forcefully to produce sputum from your lungs. The sample is then sent to a lab for analysis. This process is usually quick, non-invasive, and helps healthcare providers diagnose and determine the right treatment for lung-related issues.
