Spotting

Spotting refers to light bleeding or light discharge that occurs outside a regular period, often between menstrual cycles or after certain activities like intercourse or medical procedures. It can be caused by various factors such as hormonal changes, implantation of a fertilized egg, birth control use, or minor health issues. While often harmless, persistent or unusual spotting should be evaluated by a healthcare provider to rule out underlying conditions. It is typically brief and less heavy than a normal period, serving as a sign that warrants attention if it occurs regularly or is accompanied by other symptoms.
