Splenomegaly

Splenomegaly refers to an enlargement of the spleen, an organ located in the upper left side of the abdomen that helps filter blood and fight infections. When the spleen becomes swollen, it can indicate various health issues, such as infections, liver diseases, or blood disorders. Symptoms might include pain or a feeling of fullness in the abdomen, but some people may not experience noticeable symptoms. Diagnosis typically involves medical imaging or blood tests. Treating the underlying cause often helps reduce the spleen’s size and restore normal function.
