SPLA (Sudan People's Liberation Army)
The Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) was a military organization that fought for the independence of South Sudan from Sudan. Emerging in the 1980s, it aimed to address the marginalization and conflicts faced by southern communities. The SPLA played a key role in the long civil war, which lasted over two decades, advocating for autonomy and sovereignty. Following South Sudan's independence in 2011, the SPLA became the national army of the new country. It has since undergone reforms and faced challenges related to maintaining peace, stability, and integration of various groups within South Sudan.
