SPL (Scottish Premier League)
The Scottish Premier League (SPL) was the top professional football (soccer) division in Scotland, featuring the best clubs like Celtic and Rangers. Teams compete annually to win the league title, and the season includes regular matches, with points awarded for wins and draws. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned champion and may qualify for European competitions. The SPL also involves relegation and promotion, where the lowest-ranked teams can drop to a lower division, and successful teams from below can move up. It was replaced in 2013 by the Scottish Premiership as part of the Scottish Professional Football League system.
