Spirochete
Spirochetes are a type of bacteria characterized by their long, slender, spiral-shaped bodies. This unique shape enables them to move with a twisting, corkscrew-like motion, helping them navigate through viscous environments like mucus and tissues. Some spirochetes are harmless, but others can cause diseases such as syphilis and Lyme disease. They are microscopic, meaning you need a microscope to see them, and they often have complex mechanisms for surviving within hosts, including evasion of the immune system. Their distinctive spiral shape and movement set them apart from other bacteria.
