spiral ganglion

The spiral ganglion is a group of nerve cell bodies located within the cochlea, a part of the inner ear responsible for hearing. These nerve cells receive signals from the sensory cells (hair cells) that detect sound vibrations. Once they gather these sound signals, the spiral ganglion transmits them via the auditory nerve to the brain for sound interpretation. Essentially, it acts as a crucial relay station, converting physical sound vibrations into electrical signals that our brain can recognize as hearing. Without it, the process of hearing would be incomplete.
