Spinal block
A spinal block is a type of regional anesthesia used during surgeries or childbirth to numb the lower part of the body. It involves injecting an anesthetic medication directly into the fluid surrounding the spinal cord in the lower back. This temporarily blocks pain signals and sensation from reaching the brain, allowing the person to remain awake but comfortably pain-free. The procedure is quick, effective, and typically used for procedures like cesarean sections or lower abdominal surgeries. It usually wears off within a few hours, and sensations gradually return after the medication's effects fade.
