Sphinx of Hatshepsut

The Sphinx of Hatshepsut is a large stone sculpture from ancient Egypt, representing Pharaoh Hatshepsut, one of the few female rulers. It features a lion's body with Hatshepsut’s face and crown, symbolizing strength and authority. Carved from sandstone, it was created around 1479–1458 BCE and located at Deir el-Bahri near her temple. The Sphinx served as a protective monument, emphasizing her power and divine right to rule, and remains a significant example of Egyptian art and royal propaganda from the 18th Dynasty.
