Sphingidae
Sphingidae, commonly known as hawk moths or sphinx moths, are a family of moths characterized by their robust bodies, narrow wings, and rapid flight. They often have a streamlined shape and can hover like hummingbirds, especially when feeding on nectar from flowers using their long proboscis. Many species are active at dusk or night. Sphingidae include some large, striking moths, and their larvae, known as hornworms, often have a horn-like projection on their back. They play important roles as pollinators and are notable for their impressive flying abilities.
