Spencerian Evolutionism
Spencerian Evolutionism, developed by Herbert Spencer, is the idea that societies and living organisms naturally progress and develop through a process of gradual change over time. It treats evolution as a universal principle, applying the concept that systems become more complex and adapted as they evolve. Spencer believed this process is driven by natural laws, similar to biological evolution, and applies to societies, technology, and culture. In essence, he saw societal development as an ongoing, natural evolution toward increased complexity and efficiency.
