Speed gun

A speed gun is a device used to measure how fast an object is moving. Commonly used by police to monitor vehicle speeds, it works by emitting a radar or laser beam toward the moving object. When the beam hits the object, it reflects back, and the device calculates the speed based on the change in frequency of the reflected signal, a phenomenon known as the Doppler effect. Speed guns provide quick, accurate readings, helping ensure safety and enforce speed limits on roads.
