Speech and singing voice

Speech and singing voices are produced by the vocal cords (or vocal folds) within the larynx, which vibrate to create sound. Speech involves rapid, controlled movements that generate specific sounds and words, with pitch and volume adjusted for clarity and emphasis. Singing also uses the vocal cords but often requires sustained, controlled vibrations at different pitches and intensities to produce melody and harmony. While both involve similar physiological processes, singing typically involves greater breath control, vocal training, and expressive modulation to achieve musical tones, whereas speech prioritizes intelligibility and communication.
