Spectrum of the Indigenous Voice
The Spectrum of the Indigenous Voice describes different approaches for Indigenous Australians to have a say in policies affecting them. It ranges from informal consultation with governments to formal, constitutional recognition and dedicated advisory bodies. At one end, Indigenous communities can engage directly through consultation; at the other, they may establish national institutions or have their perspectives embedded in constitutional law. The spectrum reflects ongoing discussions about how best to ensure Indigenous voices are meaningfully included in decision-making processes, respecting their rights and promoting reconciliation.
