Special Guardianship
Special Guardianship is a legal arrangement in which an individual, often a relative or close friend, is granted legal responsibility for a child without ending the child's relationship with their birth parents. It provides stability, allowing the guardian to make important decisions about the child's care, education, and well-being, while the child's legal family ties are maintained. This arrangement is intended to meet the child's needs for security and permanence when returning to or being cared for outside of their birth family isn't suitable.
