Spartacus League
The Spartacus League was a radical German political group formed after World War I by leftist socialists and communists who opposed the existing government. They sought a revolutionary overhaul of society to establish a socialist state, inspired by communist ideas. Named after Spartacus, the leader of a slave revolt in ancient Rome, the league played a key role in the German Revolution of 1918–1919. Eventually, it merged into the Communist Party of Germany. The group was known for its militant stance and opposition to both capitalism and more moderate socialist factions.
