Spanish history

Spain’s history is shaped by diverse cultures, including the Romans, Visigoths, Moors, and Christians, who influenced its language, architecture, and traditions. It was unified under Ferdinand and Isabella in the late 15th century, marking the start of a global empire through explorers like Columbus. The country experienced periods of imperial power, internal conflict, and civil war (notably 1936-1939), leading to a dictatorship under Franco. Since 1978, Spain transitioned to a democratic constitutional monarchy, modernizing its economy and integrating into the European Union, while preserving rich regional identities and cultural heritage.
