Span (geography)

In geography, a "span" typically refers to the extent or distance between two points or features, such as the length of a bridge, the reach of a natural feature, or the range of something across a landscape. It helps describe how wide or long something is in space. For example, the span of a river might be the distance between its banks, or the span of a mountain range is the distance from one end to the other.
