Space Shuttle engine

The Space Shuttle's main engines, called RS-25 engines, are highly advanced rocket engines that burn liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen to produce tremendous thrust. They operate by quickly mixing these fuels in a combustion chamber, creating hot gases that expand rapidly and shoot out the engine nozzle, propelling the shuttle upward. These engines are reusable, designed to be fired multiple times with precise control during launch, providing the majority of the shuttle's power. Their efficiency and reliability were crucial for safely delivering astronauts and cargo to space and returning them to Earth.
