space balloon
A space balloon is a large, specially designed balloon filled with helium or a similar gas that can lift itself high into the Earth's atmosphere. It carries instruments such as cameras, sensors, or scientific equipment to near-space altitudes, typically between 20 to 40 kilometers above sea level. As it rises, the balloon expands due to decreasing pressure until it eventually bursts, allowing the payload to descend safely with a parachute. Space balloons are used for scientific research, weather monitoring, and testing equipment in near-space conditions, providing valuable data at a fraction of the cost of traditional satellite missions.
