Soviets

Soviets were local councils of workers, soldiers, and peasants in the Soviet Union, formed during the Russian Revolution as representatives of the common people. They played a key role in the revolution’s leadership and governance, embodying the socialist ideals of collective decision-making and workers’ control. Over time, Soviets became the administrative structures of the Soviet state, guiding policies and functions at local, regional, and national levels. They symbolized grassroots participation in governance, though under the centralized control of the Communist Party. Essentially, Soviets were mechanisms for workers and citizens to exercise influence within the socialist government framework.
