Soviet Air Forces

The Soviet Air Forces, or VVS, was the aerial military branch of the Soviet Union, responsible for defending the country and projecting military strength through a wide range of aircraft, including fighters, bombers, and reconnaissance planes. Established after World War II, it was one of the largest and most advanced air forces globally during the Cold War, emphasizing strategic bombers and nuclear delivery capabilities. The VVS played a crucial role in Soviet military strategy, training, and nuclear deterrence until its dissolution in 1991, when it was succeeded by the Russian Air Forces.
