Southern Yemen

Southern Yemen refers to the southern region of Yemen, a country on the Arabian Peninsula. Historically, it was a separate entity with its own identity, including the former Aden Colony and South Yemen, which gained independence in 1967 and later unified with North Yemen in 1990 to form the current Republic of Yemen. The south has distinct cultural traditions, a strategic port in Aden, and has experienced conflicts and calls for autonomy or independence, particularly amid political instability. The region is characterized by diverse landscapes, including coastal areas, deserts, and highlands, and plays a vital economic and geopolitical role in the region.
