Southern Hemisphere observatories
Southern Hemisphere observatories are dedicated facilities located south of the equator, designed to study the skies, stars, planets, and celestial phenomena visible from that part of Earth. They include telescopes that capture light from distant objects, allowing astronomers to explore the universe's origins, structure, and evolution. Because the night sky looks different in the Southern Hemisphere, these observatories provide unique vantage points for observing objects like the Magellanic Clouds, the Southern Cross, and the center of our galaxy. Examples include the South African Large Telescope and the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder.
