Southeastern and Chatham Railway

The Southeastern and Chatham Railway (S&CR) was a joint operation formed in 1899 to manage railway services in southeast England, mainly between London and Kent. It combined the infrastructure and routes of two companies—the South Eastern Railway and the Chatham and Dover Railway—to improve efficiency and coordination. Though they operated under separate branding, they shared management, allowing smoother, more reliable train services in the region. This partnership lasted until the 1923 grouping, when many UK railways consolidated into larger companies. The S&CR was key in developing transportation in southeast England during its time.
