Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (seato.org)
SEATO, the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization, was a regional alliance formed in 1954 to prevent the spread of communism and promote stability in Southeast Asia. Comprised of countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Thailand, and the Philippines, it aimed to provide collective security through mutual support and cooperation. Although it never engaged in direct military action, SEATO served as a strategic partnership during the Cold War era, helping to contain communist influence in the region until its dissolution in 1977.
