South Lebanon Army
The South Lebanon Army (SLA) was a Lebanese Christian militia formed in the 1970s, primarily consisting of Christian fighters and backed by Israel. It operated mainly in southern Lebanon, supporting Israel’s military goals against Lebanese and Palestinian groups. The SLA collaborated closely with Israeli forces, providing security and military support in the region. After Israel's withdrawal in 2000, the SLA disbanded, and many members either fled Lebanon or faced legal consequences. The group played a significant role in Lebanon’s complex conflict history and its regional tensions, especially during the Lebanese Civil War and Israeli occupation periods.
