South Glamorgan

South Glamorgan was a former administrative region in Wales, created in 1974 and abolished in 1996. It included the cities of Cardiff and Bridgend, serving as a local government area with its own council responsible for services like education, transportation, and planning. The region was part of the larger county of Glamorgan but was divided into smaller administrative units. After 1996, South Glamorgan was replaced by the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan unitary authorities, which now handle local governance. The name is still used historically and culturally to refer to this part of South Wales.
