South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA)

The South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) is an agreement among South Asian countries—India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives—to promote economic integration by reducing tariffs and trade barriers. Its goal is to facilitate easier and cost-effective cross-border trade, boosting economic growth and cooperation within the region. While it encourages free trade, some tariffs may still exist to protect local industries. SAFTA aims to create a more interconnected South Asia, benefiting consumers and businesses through increased market access and collaboration.
