Sound

Sound is the energy transmitted through vibrations that travel through a medium such as air, water, or solids. When an object vibrates, it causes surrounding particles to move back and forth, creating waves of pressure changes. These waves are detected by our ears, which convert them into electrical signals sent to the brain, allowing us to perceive sound. Different frequencies and amplitudes of vibrations produce the variety of sounds we hear, from deep bass notes to high-pitched tones. Essentially, sound is our experience of these vibrations propagating through a medium and being interpreted by our auditory system.
