Sorites Principle

The Sorites Principle, also known as the paradox of the heap, explores how small changes can lead to significant differences in classification. It highlights that if you gradually remove grains from a heap of sand, at what point does it stop being a heap? Similarly, it questions where the boundary lies between one state and another when the differences are minimal. Essentially, it shows how vague categories or thresholds can make it difficult to determine precise boundaries, raising questions about how we define and distinguish things that change gradually rather than abruptly.
