Sonograms, also known as ultrasounds, are medical imaging tools that use high-frequency sound waves to create visual images of the inside of the body. A technician applies a gel and moves a device called a transducer over the skin to send sound waves, which bounce off tissues and organs. These echoes are then converted into real-time images on a monitor. Sonograms are commonly used during pregnancy to monitor fetal development, but they also help diagnose issues in organs like the heart, liver, and kidneys. They are safe, non-invasive, and provide valuable insights without radiation exposure.
