Sonnet form

A sonnet is a 14-line poem, typically written in iambic pentameter, which means each line has ten syllables with a rhythmic pattern of an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed one. There are several types of sonnets, the two most famous being the Shakespearean (or English) sonnet, which has a rhyme scheme of ABABCDCDEFEFGG, and the Petrarchan (or Italian) sonnet, which follows an ABBAABBACDCDCD rhyme scheme. Sonnets often explore themes of love, nature, and beauty, culminating in a resolution or deepening insight in the final lines.
