Somatotyping

Somatotyping is a method used to categorize body types based on physical characteristics. It identifies three primary categories: ectomorph (lean and slender), mesomorph (muscular and well-built), and endomorph (rounder and softer). Most people are a mix of these types, with one or two dominating features. This classification helps in understanding body composition, tailoring fitness programs, or analyzing physical traits. Although not absolute, somatotyping provides a useful framework for studying body structure and how it may relate to health, performance, or nutrition strategies.
