Somatotropinoma

A somatotropinoma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumor that develops in the pituitary gland, which is a small gland at the base of the brain that controls hormone production. This tumor produces excess growth hormone, leading to abnormal tissue growth. In adults, this can cause a condition called acromegaly, characterized by enlarged hands, feet, facial features, and other health issues like joint pain and diabetes. Treatment options include surgery, medications, or radiation to reduce hormone levels and manage symptoms effectively.
