Solute Clearance
Solute clearance is a measure of how effectively the kidneys remove specific substances from the blood. It reflects the volume of plasma from which a particular solute (like waste products or excess minerals) is completely cleared by the kidneys per minute. By measuring solute clearance, healthcare providers can assess kidney function and how well the kidneys are filtering waste, helping diagnose or monitor kidney health. The calculation considers the concentration of the substance in blood and urine, along with urine flow rate, providing a useful indicator of renal filtration efficiency.
