Solomon Brothers

Salomon Brothers was a major investment bank primarily known for its expertise in bond and securities trading, as well as in investment management and financial advisory services. Founded in 1910, it grew to become one of the most influential firms on Wall Street. The bank specialized in creating and selling complex financial products, helping governments, corporations, and investors raise capital and manage risks. Its reputation was built on innovative trading strategies, but it also faced scandals, notably the 1980s bond trading scandal. In 1997, it was acquired by Travelers Group, which later became part of Citigroup.
