Solitary Pulmonary Nodule

A solitary pulmonary nodule is a small, round or oval spot found in the lung on a chest X-ray or CT scan. It’s usually less than 3 centimeters in size. These nodules can be benign (non-cancerous) like a scar or infection, or malignant (cancerous). Doctors evaluate factors such as size, shape, and patient history to determine if further testing or monitoring is needed. Many nodules are harmless and may not require treatment, but timely assessment is important to rule out or detect lung cancer early.
